It has been a tough couple of days but Alhamdulillah, everything is fine and my mama is home. Waiting is such a tiring event! Then, dear messaged me to say "Ohchan has been Friday-ed!" ... WOO HOO! The signs of increasing popularity and with a WOMAN 5 years older (damn it! they all like older women - no chance lah kita!).

Somehow, maybe because real life intrudes with more serious issues, I do not feel bothered much like the time with Minami (methinks she is too chio for him lah) and yet this time, there are even pictures (but it does begs the question 'what about satoda mai?' and 'how did these pictures leak?').

It also matters not that she is a former-gravure idol when she has been acting a lot more like in 'Hero: Special' and it seems they got to know each other during 'Sengokupuu' (that's it! we all definitely need to try and get a role in one of ohchan's stageplay). Maybe she should be a guest for 'Maou' :P

Amidst all of these, I was telling dear how I ended up in giggle fits everytime I listen to 'Take Me Faraway' because lucky chick, she would have gotten all of Ohchan's signature moves especially the fluid crotch motion and being touched all the time.

Anyway, the great timing of release is such an obvious ploy for publicity - Oh Friday! On another note, I think diva is in mourning or having a fit or has not gotten laid! There are no new updates for today even though it is Ohchan.

I do have a complain. How come the rest of the members only has cheesy magazines like Bubka and Friday coverage while the brat gets live-televised wideshows coverage because of Misami Masami?!?! Even his guest-starring is such a huge deal!

Then again, it is GOD NINO. I wonder if the rumour for NinoxToma drama next season will happen and can I finally get my darling Riko to act with him?

[info]graphicfighter: Sansan, you commented that Ohchan's six-pack is not so prominent before so it must be photoshopped in Myojo. Tonight, SHOWER SCENE CHECK! I am sorry that you were spoiled in Vox. Should have stuck with me XD

[info]little_bruises: Xuan, our discussion about wanting them to come out just the day before this XD What! You planned it behind my back, is it? Other than saying, 'I thought Chinen was in episode 1 of Maou as the little brother...' which we can only hope we get the rest of Arashi too.

〜始める (-hajimeru)
〜始める (-hajimeru)

    Meaning: to begin/start VERB-ing
    Example: I started reading yesterday.

[ View this entry online ]

  Notes:
This construct expresses the beginning of an action or verb. It takes the [conjunctive form] of the verb and appends to it the auxiliary verb 始める.

  • 本格的に本を読み出したのは大学生になってからである。
"When i really began to read books was after i became a University Student".

What are the differences here betweeen the yomihajimeta and the yomidashita? It feels as if the yomidashita is done in a faster way or something more epochal? Appreciate the comments on this observation :)! (contributor: Exrulez)
  • V-hajimeta and
    V-dashita

I infer some differences from the examples we have so far (need more though, hint hint :)

yomi-hajimeta : that was the first time I started reading

    ugoki-dashita : it started moving
    not neccesarily the first time.

ugoki-hajimeta : it started to move (first time?)

also, depends on the verb. -dashita seems to feel more sudden, violent to me, like machinery lurching to a start... ? (contributor: dc)
  • PS i added your example anyway above, but as a -hajimeta (on this page). by adding examples makes it easier for others to edit (comments can only be edited/deleted by their author but ex's are open) (contributor: dc)
  • I cannot find a difference between V出すand vし始める. (contributor: Miki)
  • 出す have a nuance of sudden action

走り出す means to "break into a run", like when a girl sees a cockroach and she "走り出す"。

始めた have a more neutral meaning, as in started eating, or start running in the case of "走り始めた" (like you start running when a race start.)

so that's what i think... (contributor: arkofnoah)
  • I changed the information about this entry, because the entry appeared to be a grammar rule for the plain past tense of 始める, when in fact the rule can be abstracted to cover the entirety of conjugations of the verb (be it plain, polite, past, non-past).

@Miki - arkofnoah hit it right on the head; 〜出す carries an "explosive" feeling along with it. 〜始める does not. (contributor: KyleGoetz)
  • Yes, I agree with arkofnoah.(@_@) (contributor: Miki)
  • Are there any exmaples of 「生き始める」and the usage of this compound verb?
    Thank you
    (contributor: Patty)

A drabble, I suppose.
Title: Tree (Best name I could come up with... Seriously.)
Author: obsessive0514
Word Count: 183
Rating: PG-13, to be safe?
Characters: Katara, Zuko
Warnings: Minor spoilers for The Western Air Temple, references to sexual violence, feeling vulnerable/helpless, basically. There's implications of rape being used as a weapon, too.
Summary: She reminds herself nothing happened, but she felt so vulnerable.
Notes: This fic is rather personal to me, honestly. Full explaination at the end so you don't have to read it, but just keep in mind that I put a lot of my own personal feelings into this.

I can’t take much more of his voice.

  Comments:
  • sometimes used for denial (contributor: dc)
  • How would this be different from just using an "if" form with a negative verb (-ba, -tara, to)? For example, could we just say 上司に相談しないとお返事できません? (contributor: anon)
  • 上司に相談しないとお返事できません or 上司に相談しないでお返事できません are both grammatically correct, but they are more or less blunt response when compared with 上司に相談してからでないとお返事できません. (contributor: bamboo4)
  • I have the feeling that the meaning is close to "nai kagiri" in this case >>
    上司に相談しない限りお返事ができません。
What do you think about it? (contributor: Ludi)
  • anon: You could probably say it with the same connotation if you add just a bit more. Example: 先に上司に相談しないと、お返事できません。 (contributor: rubyhatchet)
  • Ludi, かぎり is more meant to express "As long as A continues, B will continue." It's more of a positive grammar than a negative one. It could work, but it would sound awkward: "As long as I don't consult with my boss, I can't give you an answer." (contributor: rubyhatchet)
  • So by using 〜てからでなければ instead of simply using 〜ば, you are being more emphatic? Would this be similar to the difference between から and からこそ? (contributor: xabre24)
  • 〜てからでなければ sounds very much like something you would see only in writing. Can you colloquialise to 〜てからじゃなければ? (contributor: sagittarius)
